Hell on Wheels in the city of churches.

Saturday Night 26th May.  SALTY DOLLS VS ROAD TRAIN ROLLERS. Adelaide showgrounds.

$10 pre-sale or $15 at the door..Next time we will pre buy. Why? Because the season ticket holders and pre-sale entered first. Then the door buyers. And if you didn't know to bring a seat, the grandstand seating filled up fast.
Although I couldn't have sat still anyway.I was way to excited.
My first Roller Derby game. I'M TOTALLY HOOKED.
Its almost a crime , for any 80's roller skating girl ,to not be A Roller Derby Doll.
Raffle tickets.First prize was an arm wrestle with your favourite roller girl. And tickets to the next match.

We are in.The atmosphere was Awesome.!!! Nothing like any sporting match I had been to.
There was this whole super cool, super friendly ,very family orientated atmosphere going on.
But with an edge that I really can't find the words for right now.
Johnny was just as pumped as me.We couldn't wipe the excitement of our faces. It was very obvious we were virgin roller derby-ers
Choose your weapons people.
These put my white boots with red laces to shame.
 Cheeky hot pants.
Pep-talk pre game. The girls go to great efforts to look fantastic.
And so do the guys.the crowd loves it.
the band rocked on.the CRAMPS were cranking!
the salty dolls were hot.
Tricks-she was a super star.!
Behind the ref's you can see the kids area for skating about. Its such a family affair.Mums are skating, dad's and kids are supporting. One of the girls did a quick breast feed before going on.
Can't hold a good woman down.

Xavier's dad was a referee.
Little Stevie the youngest supporter..(and breast feeder..) cheering on mum "killer" Kimmy.
Proud Xavier with dad "zigby stardust"   i wonder if his name had anything to do with his blue sparkle sketcher skates.
the Road train Rollers.
And I haven't even mentioned the rules.I had a little trouble understanding them myself so rather than confuse the issue I suggest you Google and read.I will be and I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for a pair of skates to re-acquaint myself with.
The ladies all have fantastic roller girl names. And they are officially registered and recognised.

which ones should i have.
Shirley Temper..that is who i want to be.I'm totally hooked.
Do yourself a favour and find your local game and go and check it out.
These ladies put on such a show and it was the best night out we have had in a long time.

shadow

A shadow is an area where direct light from a  source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object.
An unattended shadow or shade was thought by some cultures to be similar to that of a ghost.

Jung also believed that 'in spite of its function as a reservoir for human darkness ,or perhaps because of this-the shadow is the seat for creativity,so that for some,it maybe "the dark side of his or her being, their sinister shadow...

Also, according to Jungian psychology, shadow is a part of the unconscious mind – and I would expand that to say it is part of the unconsciousness in a group’s field (team, organisation, network, community). Shadow consists of repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, and instincts. Everyone carries shadow to one degree or another. It is part of who we are as human beings and it is part of what we collectively bring as we are in relationship with each other. It is often the underbelly of the things we love about ourselves, others, the work we do, the organisation we work in and the communities we support. We don’t want to talk about it because we want to focus on the light and the things we love. We want to pretend it isn’t there and in so doing we actually give it energy and life of its own
Sciophobia or Sciaphobia is the fear of shadows.

for me.the sun came out.i have a new app on my phone i wanted to play with.and i was waiting for the washing to dry.
makes for a good story though.

ebernezer place

Cool little lane way tucked in behind Rundle street.Hand full of great businesses doing there our thing. And home to the Belgian Beer cafe.Hot chips in a cone with mayo. And beer.

Macaroons. The monte carlo of the 2000's.
This is the SAD cafe.A recent addition to the Hairdressers called DAS next door.Johnny has been getting these guys to cut his hair on every visit to Adelaide.Cool little set up.The salon has small unique selection of clothing bags and shoes for sale also.
The name of the business is a combination of the owners names. There is nothing sad about this little spot at all.The walls are lined with picture boxes of insects.Being a collector of these i was overwhelmed by choice. And had my first moment of wanting to send for my belongings in storage.
 Is this for sale?

These are beautifully made satchels .
Porcelain deer antlers and skulls by a local artist.

What about these. Are they for sale??

The walls are literally lined with these.Saffy was telling me the originals belonged to Dom's dad. They arn't for sale. But there is a very large selection that is.And really reasonably priced.

Speaking of hot chips....Who is this dashing young lad..?
We did laugh though when one of the YOUNGER stylists in the salon announced to JohnnyBoy that she thought it was cool to see an OLDER guy with a cool haircut.....He looked over his shoulder to see who she was refering to.
Aren't your 40's the new 30's..?
