Doc Week 2013

So here it is.
I can see why the Adelaidians call next month Mad march.
The Fringe festival
The adelaide Festival
Doc week
Clipsal
and i'm sure many more cool things im yet to hear about.
Documentary week is complimenary to other film festivals,as it doesn't look for the hottest films of the moment, but carefully celebrates the work of  a limited number of carefully selected filmmakers, organisations or topics.

As you can see below,a carefully marked schedule keeps me out of the home, totally neglecting the family and thinking  of nobody but my self.

Thursday night is depeche Mode 101.
It is film that follows a group of fans in the 80's who have won a "be in a Depeche Mode movie contest"
The band,the fans and backstage.

Saturday night is Don't look back.
on tour with Bob Dylan.
1965 spring time England.
An intimate portrait ofone of the most influential songwriters of of our times..
along side Rodriguez..

And Mary meets Mohammad is on Wednesday night.
A modern day fairytale about an unlikely friendship between two people.
Mary is an elderly pensioner and avid knitter and Mohommad is an Afghan refugee who is one of the first to take up residence in a new detention centre in tasmania.

To many to list.
Watch for the reviews.

internetous...

This is me....waiting for telstra to come and fix our internet cable.....
to all my fellow readers i am so grateful you haven't given up on me.....
life in adelaide is still going on..
as i hack into my neighbours internet guilt overtakes me..
i must go back out the front..i can't give telstra the opportunity to say they came and i wasn't there...
sigh,!

Valentines day

there are many stories and myths surrounding valentines day.
from the romans, christians, catholic church and the pagans.
to some its a cheesy date that they refuse to celebrate.instead choosing
to spontaniously spoil there love one any other day of the year.
to others its an emotionally trying day being alone and feeling like on this
one day...the world has forgotten them ,and so has love.
and then there are those who relish in it.plastic roses in clear boxes with carefully placed clear drops of glue to look like water drops fresh from the service station.along side a little fluffy toy
of sorts with a heart saying the obvious'i love you'..or i wuv you.which  makes me gag in my mouth to type.
and then there are those who choose to marry on this day.and make it a special day in their lives for ever.
and in doing so affect those around them......punch drunk on love.
or really drunk on punch.
so drunk in fact he proposed to me.at someone elses wedding.
and not to be out done i drunkenly said yes.
and that was that.
valentines day now has no cheesy overtone to it.
it is simply the day my husband drunkenly proposed to me
and i drunkenly said yes.
happy valentines day everyone.x

Brighton sculptures.

...........oh i do like to be beside the seaside,oh i do like to be beside the sea".....

The Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures is an annual event. Inspired by the very successful 'Sculptures by the Sea' at Cottesloe Beach, Western Australia and the famous 'Bondi Sculptures by the Sea' in New South Wales. See art work from local and interstate artists. Enjoy a display of sculptures that are inspirational, enticing, imaginative and interactive. The sculptures range in size and feature in both indoor and outdoor displays. Freedom of creativity is encouraged and the event is free to attend. The Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures is situated on the Esplanade at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club. It is held from the last week of January to the first Sunday in February each summer.

...bar-be-queue....genius.

Yet again..another fantastic public art program provided by Adelaide for our enjoyment.

and just like that Adelaide provided again.the sun was out,the crowd was huge and everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a day of  art in the sun.
Q.why doesn't the sunshine coast plan an event like this.?

and then they flew...

go forth and holiday...take yourself seven equal days....and indulge in every way possible....restore refill......absorb all that your surroundings have to offer....find yourself in a location and call this home....make those around you aware of the co- ordinates to your hide out....and see what this brings....have no expectations and suffer no disappointments....

red eye at the time of booking always seems an appropriate
way to save alittle extra for the holiday....until the four am alarm beeps and you would pay double for a later flight.

hello sister i have missed your face

seven nights eight days at the Beach walk beach shack glamping.no car no plans.a girl needs to be prepared for drop ins, spontaneous barbeque's etc etc...and yes more beer was added to the trolley for the gentlemen folk.

almost there

almost there

here we are.shoes off , hair back  ,bathers on ,
wind down.
it is so wonderful to be a tourist in your home town.
now I know what all the fuss is about.

rock pool

early morning swimming

the most important part of all was time with family and friends.
and meeting the next generation.
the gorgeous Ryder and jade Bethany and Magnus

Tully x

magnus

the newest gang member..Kaleb

Mags and  Tallow

Sophie from Paris and so many more..to those who know.. you are the most wonderful friends and family anyone could ask for..seeing you all was enough to keep us going till next time.we miss you so much..don't let all the babies grow up to quickly.xx

and thank you to the lovely Layla for teaching us all Finger knitting .no beach holiday is complete with out hand made memories...or a homemade Australia day apple pie from our old neighbour..Renee...or

rain..it had been mentioned but we thought we had enough mully grubs to get us through...the first 4 days anyway.then down it came and didn't stop.

Sleep ins,good books
and a day of DVDs with Ma baker and it was time to go.mad dash to Brisbane to save the yacht and be at the airport by six pm to fly.all of us alittle antsy to say the least. The coast was coping some serious rain and flooding and after the previous year of flooding in Brisbane we didn't know what to expect.

the view of the Brisbane river from casa Del kell

whats a Queensland storm without beach towels on the old Hills..
and then to the airport. To cut a long line, long wait and long story short...flight was cancelled so its back into the cab(expensive)to casa Del kell(totally grateful)and another night in Brisbane.

then i started thinking that every cloud has a silver lining and perhaps this was, that I was supposed to go shoe shopping at Zomp in James street the following day as we were to fly out at seven pm again, making it a whole day to kill in the city(flood pending) which totally made sense.right?

......wrong.Due to the crazy weather James street was pretty much closed for the day so window shopping it was.Followed by a beautiful breakfast in the Market.

Our venture back through the city revealed just how bad the weather had been.due to very little rain in since April 2012(when we left QLD)the grounds were so dry there was tree fall everywhere.

pretty sad really.to think about the people and suffering throughout Queensland, again made us realise we had nothing to complain about...except my silver lining...

........and there it was.!..after another taxi ride(expensive)back to
the airport(chokers)and lining up(ages!) we meet with a lovely fellow at check in who tells me we aren't booked on the flight...blah blah blah..and yes, what about business class..thank you kind fellow and thank your mother for the rabbits.I'll take it and the pre flight mock tail, extra leg room, laptop computer TV thing, dinner box,gin and tonics(keep them coming)and the great service. Not to mention first on and first off....
please note-leg room.still in the old converse instead of new Zomp silver lining shoes..but that's okay because i have  the leg room.

pre flight mocktail- why not i say.

and then they flew.
home.
